Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by NeoPost by emmelPost by Red DragonBut why do you want our opinion on this? Thinking about making a movie? ;)
Nah, and be now she'd be sixteen or so anyway. Besides, the really hard
part to cast would be Mynor.
I was just being curious how much my vision overlapped with yours. And
by the looks of it you were on the same page as me while Neo wasn't.
You're the writer, so it is really your fault ;-)
Of course it is, but I think one out of two isn't really that bad.
Might be a fluke.
In both directions. :-)
Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by NeoI guess I want Laiva to be more mature.
I don't think she'd be that damn thick headed then. And it wouldn't
quite work for other reasons as well, I think.
Girls in puberty can be much worse. For one thing, they are much
stronger and taller and they understand better how the world works
(which equates more damage).
Add to that their disturbed emotional and moral systems and you've got
something pretty problematic!
Yeah, but I didn't plan for Laiva to destroy the world or something. If
I aimed for that a girl in puberty would be ideal, of course. Seriously,
you can me trust that it just wouldn't have worked.
Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by NeoThank God there is Aya now!
Well, she definitely is a lot more mature.
Yes. 17 is nearly legal to have a crush on in most countries (unless you
are underaged yourself in which case you can have a crush on other
people that are underaged till one of you hits 18).
OK, I have to say something to that. For one thing there are countries
where 'having a crush on somebody' is legal for lower ages. Hey, you can
marry with sixteen around here, dammit.
There is, however, the little problem of counting years. We are
talking Rilanehan years here, and while the length of the days for some
curious reasons is close enough to an earth day so we can safely ignore
it, the calendar is somewhat different.
The Rilanehan is structured as follows:
1st to 26th of post winter
1st to 50th of pring
1st to 26th of pre summer
1st to 104th of summer
1st to 26th of post summer
1st to 50th of autumn
1st to 26th of pre winter
1st to 104th of winter
Please not that the pre/post seasons/months are called differently in
different regions. Sometimes the pre/post seasons are split into two
months with 25 days each, and winter and summer in four to 26 days each.
At any rate, the official counting starts at summer solstice
(day zero) and is continually counted to day 411 or 412 in leap years
which happen every few dozen years or so. You don't even want to know
what that does to the non-continuous counting given above, since the
results vary greatly depending on whom you ask.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that while Aya is without doubt
seventeen, it's not seventeen earth years. I leave the math to you.
Post by NeoStill, she kicks ass, which is most important to me.
Yup.
Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by NeoI am really not comfortable around children.
No problems with children here, although it might be disputable the
children would have a problem with me.
Why would they have a problem with you? You could read them stories
right? Children *love* stories!
Well, there's more children than that. Anyway, even better than reading
stories is telling stories. I, too, would love that.
Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by NeoEven when I was younger I rather hang out with older people than with
youngsters my own age. Children are highly unpredictable to me and I
Oh, yeah. Unpredictably, your name is Laiva. I wouldn't want to be
responsible for that particular rascal. I don't think most children are
that bad, though.
You mean they don't kill living creatures they feel threatened by?
Well, how many children actually *do* run away from home? And how many
would do so in a place like that. That through-the-wall-head-first
mentality of hers makes raising her a serious challenge. Especially
since you just can't be mad at her, when she looks at you with her big
eyes. After all she doesn't mean to make trouble, and she is a good
child and everything.
Post by NeoPost by emmelPost by Neodon't feel like paying attention to them all the time (which is why
not getting my gf pregnant seems like a really good idea).
That's something between you are her, obviously. Still, I don't think
you would necessarily be bad as a father. IMHO own children are very
different from anything else.
Thank you! But by the time I want children both me and my gf will
probably be too old for it (quite common in Holland according to
recent studies in the EU; we've got the highest number of dead before
birth in Europe, twice that of Germany).
That kinda sucks.
